GYSA logo

Preamble

Greencastle Youth Softball Association (here after GYSA) and youth sports play an important part in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It is therefore essential for parents, coaches and officials to encourage youth athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Moreover, adults involved in youth sports should be models of good sportsmanship and should lead by example by demonstrating fairness, respect and self-control.

I therefore pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while coaching, attending, officiating or otherwise participating in any GYSA event and my behavior shall follow the code of conduct and ethics:

  1. I will not engage in or encourage others in unsportsmanlike conduct with any player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  2. I will not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or wellbeing of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  3. I will not engage in or encourage the use of profanity by any coach, player, participant, official, parent or any other attendee.
  4. I will treat any coach, parent, player, official or any other attendee with respect.
  5. I will not engage in or encourage any verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  6. I will not initiate a fight, scuffle or intend to intimidate any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

I hereby agree that if I fail to adhere to the foregoing while coaching, officiating, participating or attending a GYSA event I will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination:

  1. A verbal warning issued by the GYSA or a representative of GYSA.
  2. A written warning issued by GYSA.
  3. Suspension or immediate ejection from a GYSA event by the league or representative of the GYSA.
